Tesla HR to employees: 'Choose not to work, it may impact your unemployment benefits'

“Once you are called back, you will no longer be on furlough so if you choose not to work, it may impact your unemployment benefits as determined by your local government agency – and not by Tesla,' the company's HR boss said to employees.

Tesla HR boss Valerie Workman told the company's California employees that if they are called back to work but opt to stay home due to Covid-19 concerns, they stand to lose their unemployment benefits.

Tesla earlier resumed production of vehicles at its main US car plant in Fremont, California in defiance of local health orders. CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter over the weekend that Tesla was suing Alameda County over the Covid-19 health orders.
