A new study by LendingTree has revealed that Tesla drivers have the highest rate of reported incidents, including accidents, DUIs, and speeding, surpassing Ram from the previous year. While Tesla vehicles are known for their safety features, the study raises concerns about driver behavior and the potential misuse of advanced driver-assistance systems.

Tesla drivers have been ranked as the worst in the U.S. for reported incidents in 2024, according to a new study by insurance agency LendingTree. The analysis, which looked at insurance inquiries from January to December 2024, revealed that Tesla drivers had 36.94 reported incidents per 1,000 drivers, a significant increase from 31.93 in 2023. This surge puts them ahead of Ram, which held the top spot in 2023.

'Incidents' encompass a range of driving-related issues, including accidents, DUIs, speeding, and citations. While Tesla vehicles are known for their advanced safety features and crashworthiness, this study suggests that driver behavior plays a crucial role in overall safety. \LendingTree's spokesperson clarified that their analysis was based on generalized insurance inquiry data, encompassing a wide spectrum of reported incidents. The study, however, does not delve into the specific circumstances or technologies involved in each case. This means it's impossible to determine if the increased incidents were directly related to Tesla's driver-assistance systems, like Autopilot and Full-Self Driving. Despite the positive safety ratings Tesla vehicles receive, there are concerns about driver misuse of these advanced technologies. A November 2024 study by iSeeCars found that Tesla's fatal accident rate was more than double the average per billion miles driven. This highlights the importance of responsible driving and understanding the limitations of driver-assistance systems. \On the other end of the spectrum, Mercury, Pontiac, and Cadillac drivers had the fewest reported incidents. This finding could be attributed to the fact that Ford discontinued Mercury in 2011, and General Motors phased out Pontiac around the same time. Consequently, there are fewer vehicles from these brands on the roads today. Despite this, it's important to note that the study doesn't necessarily suggest that drivers of these brands are inherently safer. It simply reflects the lower number of vehicles in circulation
