KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 11 — Tesdec Hydropower Sdn Bhd, which is ultimately owned by the Terengganu government, expects to generate annual revenue of RM3 million to RM3.5 million from a mini-hydro power plant to be built at Sungai Pelagat, Besut.

“The renewable energy generated will be sold to Tenaga Nasional Bhd to ensure a sustainable electrical supply,” he said after the letter of award signing ceremony between Tesdec Hydropower and Minetech Resources Bhd’s subsidiary Techmile Resources Sdn Bhd here today. Saiful Azmi said the project would also function as an early flood warning system for the local communities apart from having other environmental benefits such as reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
