The supermarket giant assured customers that stores would still be open as normal during the daytime on Sunday, so they can stock up on any essential supplies
Tesco plans to shut its Express stores in England early on Sunday if the Three Lions make it to the European Championship finals. England face the Netherlands tonight in a semi-final clash, with the winner going on to face Spain in Berlin at 8pm on Sunday.
Tesco explained that this decision would enable thousands of colleagues to reach home or a pub in time for kick-off, while still receiving their standard pay for those hours. Even those staff members who choose not to watch the match will receive their regular pay. Tesco reassured customers that stores would operate as usual during the daytime on Sunday, allowing them to stock up on any essential pre-match supplies. All online orders already placed for Sunday evening would be honoured and delivered as normal, the MEN reports.
