Detroit chose Arnold after sending the 29th and 73rd picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for the ability to move up five spots in the first round and a 2025 seventh-round selection. All drafted players receive four-year contracts. The values of those contracts are based on the pick number, the NFL’s salary cap of $255.4 million for the 2024 season and this year’s rookie compensation pool in a formula spelled out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the league and its players association.
After becoming the final Detroit draft choice to sign his contract, Arnold accompanied the Lions’ other rookies to Comerica Park, where, as the NFL team’s first-round choice in the 2024 draft, he tossed the first pitch.pitched the first six innings for the Tigers on Thursday, yielding one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four. A former Springville High School and Auburn standout, Mize was the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft.
