For Peden, 20, the fight to protect access to puberty blockers and hormone therapy is deeply personal. Peden started taking testosterone when he was 15 years old, saying it was “absolutely fundamental in saving my life.”

Texans wear blue for child abuse awareness - KRLD NewsA lot of Texans are wearing blue Friday to raise awareness about child abuse. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services urged people to wear blue Friday. The CDC estimates one in seven kids is abused or neglected. The agency said the number is likely higher because many cases are not reported. 'It is a very prevalent problem. Just increasing awareness in the community is important so we can have more protection for kiddos,' said Nicholas La Mere, the therapy, trainee and intern coordinator at Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.
