The New Orleans Saints signed the Alabama alumnus for their practice squad on Wednesday.
Each NFL team can elevate two members of its practice squad to active status for each game.
Lewis played in 11 games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, his third NFL season. He had 13 tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, two passes defended and hiswhile getting on the field for 332 defensive snaps and 14 special-teams plays with Los Angeles last season. But the day after the roster cuts, the Bears were awarded two players off waivers, and Lewis was one of the playersLewis signed with the Saints after working out for the team on Tuesday.
Once he made his debut in the fifth game of the Rams’ 2020 season, Lewis played in eight games, registered five tackles and recorded two sacks in 124 defensive snaps as a rookie.
