LOS ANGELES – Left fielder Teoscar Hernandez was hopeful he would be back in the lineup as soon as Monday after learning he didn’t suffer a broken foot after getting hit by an 82-mph slider on Friday.
Hernandez underwent an MRI and a CT scan on his injured left foot Saturday. The results showed that he did not suffer a fracture and will not spend any time on the Injured List. “He’s moving around today and hopefully he will take some swings in the cage,” Roberts said. “It’s day to day and we’ll see if tomorrow makes sense. I don’t see past Tuesday.”Hernandez is second on the team in home runs and RBIs with an .819 OPS .Roberts said there was no additional information Sunday on Gavin Stone. Stone, who has made a team-leading 25 starts, was placed on the IL on Friday after experiencing right shoulder pain.
Roberts said the hottest game he recalled was a day game that was played on the artificial turf at Royals Stadium in Kansas City. He added that he never saw any player suffer extreme heat exhaustion and was “hoping it doesn’t happen today.”The Dodgers picked up the contract of left-hander Nick Ramirez on Sunday and optioned Justin Wrobleski. To make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, the team designated pitcher Michael Petersen for assignment.
