Thousands of people are expected to march in Washington, D.C. in protest of President-elect Donald Trump before his inauguration.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on Washington, D.C. on Saturday for 'The People’s March,' a demonstration to oppose President-elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration on January 20. The rally is expected to begin at 10 a.m. on January 18 and the march is set to take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting at the Washington Monument.
It’s being organized by several activist groups, including Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, Abortion Access Now and the Women’s March. \'In 2025, the U.S. will begin a new presidential term with the start of an openly authoritarian administration. We face a government of billionaires, con artists, and white supremacists who are enriching themselves while dividing and attacking our communities,' the event website reads. 'They unite to divide. We must unite to rise.' \The group plans to meet at Franklin Park on I Street, Northwest. 'This is our moment to remind the billionaire boys' club where the power truly lives: with the people. Let's make it count,' the organizers wrote. The march organizers have partnered with Rally Bus to bring charter buses to D.C. for the march. \Trump is planning a 'Victory Rally' to be held at Capitol One Arena on January 19. 'This is President Trump’s VICTORY RALLY the DAY before being sworn in as the 47th President — the crowd needs to be HUGE!' an email to supporters advertising the event, the Associated Press reports. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the rally begins at 3 p.m. Ticket registration information can be found here
