Rep. Claudia Tenney has proposed legislation that would penalize states granting driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants by cutting off federal transportation funding. The bill, dubbed the Red Light Act, specifically targets states like New York, which enacted the Green Light Law allowing anyone over 16 to apply for a license regardless of citizenship status.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., on Tuesday announced a new bill aimed at cracking down on states which provide driver's licenses to noncitizens. The Red Light Act, if passed, would withhold federal transportation funding from states which enact laws providing licenses or identification cards to illegal migrants. Under the bill, the U.S.

Department of Transportation would revoke such a state’s entire share of 'specific federal highway funds,' according to a One state with such a law on the books is New York.
