Erik ten Hag has given insight into what the Man United dressing room was like when he arrived MUFC
Erik ten Hag has revealed he ‘didn’t see any team dynamics’ in the Manchester United squad when he first arrived.
The Red Devils manager, who was appointed in the summer, explained there was issue with the ‘culture’ of the dressing room at Old Trafford, and he had to prioritise fixing it in the transfer window.Advertisement After arriving at the club as a permanent replacement for former boss and player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ten Hag had been tasked with totally transforming Man United.
With plenty of long-standing players such as Paul Pogba out of the door following the expiration of their contracts, the Dutchman had the job of rebuilding the side that finished 35 points off league winners and rivals Manchester City. But Ten Hag has now revealed that it was far from a clean slate at Old Trafford when he arrived, given the ongoing issues within the squad.
“There was no spirit in it [the dressing room], I didn’t see any team dynamics in the team,” Ten Hag told Dutch outlet“The mental toughness was very low. The fighting spirit, for each other, prioritising the team, that wasn’t really in this squad.”
