Down seven with about 6 ½ minutes left, the Cougars rallied to tie the game when J’Wan Roberts swatted the ball loose and scored on a layup and added a free throw. UH, however, could not overcome its struggles from the free-throw line, missing 10 of 21 shots. Temple made 20-of-22 in the game. UH lost for the first time in conference play and had its nine-game winning streak snapped. It was just the Cougars’ sixth loss in 72 all-time games at Fertitta Center.

Damian Dunn had 16 points for Temple, which beat the No. 1 team for the third time in school history and first time since knocking off Cincinnati in 2000.Temple managed to hang on despite missing its final seven shots and scoring one point in the final 6:37.
