An early season heat wave is on the horizon for the next week.

But the winter weather won't last for long — an early season heat wave is on the horizon next week.
While sweltering, 100-degree temperatures that are often associated with summer heat waves aren’t in the forecast, temperatures could be more than 15 degrees above normal. The shift in the weather will come as high pressure that's associated with warm weather forms over the West Coast. "It will make the upper level flow more favorable to northerly winds, and we'll loose that cooler air we get off the ocean," said Brayden Murdock, a forecaster with the National Weather Service."The northerly winds will bring in drier, warmer air."
Afternoon highs on Sunday, the first day of spring, will be mild, with most locations in the 60s. Monday marks the start of the spring heat wave with inland temperatures ranging from the mid-to-high 70s. Coastal spots are likely to stay in the mid-60s. Tuesday and Wednesday are predicted to be the hottest days of the week, with many inland locations breaking into the 80s.
"Santa Rosa will be getting into the mid-80s," Murdock said."If you live on the coast, it's not going to be as big of a warm-up. Ocean Beach in San Francisco is likely to stick in the 60s, but you're looking at a lot of 70s along the coastal bay."Top Picks In Shopping
