Bacon for the meatless.

I gotta say a couple of things about this, but I'll start with NOTHING can replace bacon. With that being said and our recent attempt to stay off animal protein, this isn't bad. I'll have to agree with amendments to this recipe though. I didn't need 50 strips of "bacon" so I actually cut everything by 5, baked at 350, 10 minutes one side, checked on it, gave it two more, then flipped for 10 min on other side, then broiled for 2 min.

I can't say that it's great solo, I certainly don't want to snack on it like I do regular bacon, but I made a BLTA and my husband and I enjoyed it. Again, the crisp wasn't there, but the flavors are very reminiscent of bacon and it worked for us. I didn't give it a 4 because the the reviews made it actually work. The recipe as it stands will render you 50 pieces of burnt bacon and wasted ingredients.
