The telco giant has announced a major shake-up it says is all about 'delivering improved connectivity for customers'.

Telstra has today announced plans to cut up to 2800 jobs - equivalent to 9 per cent of its workforce - as part of a "reset" of its Enterprise business.

Telstra Chief Executive Vicki Brady said the move was required to ensure the company could continue to make the investments needed to support the increasing growth in data volumes and "deliver improved connectivity for customers across the country".Up to 2,800 jobs will be axed by the end of the year.

"As we propose specific changes, we will talk them through with our teams and union representatives first."She said the job cuts were "difficult" but "necessary" as parts of Telstra were not performing to the required levels.
