Police have been working closely with Lancashire County Council, local schools and Lancashire Fire and Rescue to identify those involved
An investigation was launched after the fire broke out and with the help of the community, Lancashire Police have identified two teens involved. The bathhouse was built around 100 AD. It served the needs of the Cavalry soldiers and the local Romano-British population.Officers have reassured the public that they take a first stance on anti-social behaviour, especially when it comes to local historical sites.
PC Paddy Bowdich said: "Just an update with regards to an investigation into a fire at the Roman Bath House site at Ribchester. With help from the community, we have identified and dealt with two teenagers who were responsible. "The neighbourhood policing team have been working closely with Lancashire County Council, local schools and Lancashire Fire and Rescue, to ensure there was a robust response with consequences, for the individuals involved. We would like to reassure the public that we will take a firm stance on such anti-social behaviour, especially where acts are taken to endanger local historical sites.
"This site is of vital importance to the history and identity of Ribchester, as we hope they are preserved for a long time to come for the enjoyment of us all. "This is also a timely reminder to families that we wish them a safe bonfire/Halloween period, with the trick-or-treating, bonfires and watching the fireworks. As part of our work, we have been attending some local schools with LFRS to educate children, on the dangers of when fire/fireworks rules are not followed, as well as what is illegal. Please report any anti-social behaviour to us on 101, or 999 in emergency.
