A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling through ice while ice skating with his younger brother in Wayne County, Ohio.
A 16-year-old boy died Wednesday after falling through ice on a frozen pond while ice skating with his younger brother.Officials told 19 News the accident happened around 10:40 a.m. in the 17000 block of Fulton Road in Marshallville.The five year-old came off the ice and he heard a scream. He turned around and looked and saw the 16 year old brother in the water,” says Wayne County Sheriff Tom Ballinger.It is scary because we know that person is in the middle of the pond.
So it is probably the deepest part of the pond. So, we know that time is not on our side,” says Sheriff Ballinger. The teenager was under the water for about ten minutes before he was recovered by the Wooster Township Fire Department Dive Team. “They were phenomenal. Worked well as a team to rescue the victim,” says Sheriff Ballinger. “They do extensive training with this type of stuff.”He was transferred to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he died
