Off-duty cops 'on a day-out' arrest teen after boy, 17, assaulted at Victoria station
Off-duty cops 'on a day out' leapt into action after witnessing a teenager being assaulted at Victoria station. Around a dozen officers helped arrest an 18-year-old man following the attack on Friday morning.
He's currently being questioned in custody on suspicion of section 18 assault. A 17-year-old boy suffered injuries which police say are 'not believed to be life-threatening'.The off-duty police from the City of Manchester district and specialist operations detained the suspect and waited for back-up following the alleged assault at 10.45am. Then they filed their reports before continuing their day out.
Sgt Kam Hare said: "This incident shows how dedicated our officers are to their jobs. They truly are on-duty 24/7 and will do whatever they can to help keep the streets of Greater Manchester safe. "The officers showed the highest level of professionalism and managed to bring the incident to a close almost immediately."Read more of today's top stories here
