A teenage girl with cerebral palsy hopes to receive the gift of a lifetime - by standing by herself for the first time on her 18th birthday
.
Her family are hoping to give her the best start to adulthood with a state-of-the-art standing wheelchair. "I struggle mentally with the condition. I've got really low confidence and I can't really go out and do the things that everyone else my own age can do. It gets me really down and anxious - I struggle to leave the house on my own."
Her family have now set up a fundraiser to raise cash for a standing wheelchair - which costs anywhere upwards of £20,000. They have already raised £5,000."I would be able to stand and see myself in a dress for the first time. To look in a mirror. It would really change my life."
