A 17-year-old boy was shot to death early Friday in East Oakland.
Investigators were trying to determine a motive for the killing. No arrests were announced.
The killing is the ninth homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year, police had investigated the same number of homicides in the city by Feb. 3. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
