A 16-year-old boy told Oakland police he was shot while riding in a car in downtown Thursday night.
OAKLAND — A 16-year-old boy, who told police he was shot Thursday night while riding in a car in downtown, was in stable condition at a hospital, authorities said.The youth told police he was with some other juveniles in a car about 8:50 p.m. Thursday and that they were driving in the 1400 block of Webster Street. He said he was a passenger.
The youth told police he heard gunfire, but not see where it was coming from or who was shooting, and realized he had been wounded in the legs. No one else in the vehicle was apparently hurt. The youth was driven to a hospital by the others, who left him there before driving away without waiting for police, authorities said.Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
