PETALING JAYA: Fire and Rescue Department personnel have retrieved the body of a teenager at the Sungai Sendat waterfalls in Ulu Yam.
According to a department spokesman, its Selangor operations centre received an emergency call at 1.17pm on Sunday about the incident and immediately sent a team there.
A team of divers later found and retrieved the 18-year-old victim's body in the water at a depth of more than two metres. Its emergency medical and rescue services team tried to resuscitate the youth but a medical officer at the scene later confirmed the teenager's death. When contacted, Hulu Selangor Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Ridzuan Khalid confirmed the incident, adding the remains of the victim, identified as Muhamad Arif Azif, were sent to Hospital Kuala Kubu Baru for a post-mortem.DSP Ridzuan said his friends later sought help from other people in the area and later alerted the Fire and Rescue Department for help.
"We would like to remind parents to be mindful of their children's whereabouts to avoid tragedies," he said.
