Residents in Southern Utah, including St. George and Hurricane, are increasingly reporting terrifying door-knocking pranks, leaving homeowners shaken and concerned for their safety. The pranks, often involving loud banging and running away, have been captured on doorbell cameras, revealing young people, sometimes teenagers, behind the frightening acts. While one resident expressed relief at discovering the perpetrators were not burglars, the aggressive nature of the pranks remains a source of worry for the community.

Southern Utah residents, from St. George to Hurricane , have reported a trend of loud, late-night door-knocking pranks that are leaving homeowners frightened and questioning their safety.

Fearing for her life, Moore grabbed a gun and hid, waiting in silence for several minutes. When no one entered, she checked her home and discovered her door was still intact. There was minor damage to some art hanging on the outside of her door, but the door was not damaged. After the incident, she installed a Ring doorbell camera.

Another Hurricane woman, Heather Brown, said a very similar incident happened at her home in mid-December. She also caught the incident on camera, which showed a young girl who matched Moore’s description. Her home was hit a second time later that month by another individual.According to Lt. David Williams of the St. George Police Department, these incidents, often referred to as an aggressive form of “ding-dong ditch,” are not new but may be increasing in frequency due to social media trends.

“Anytime you’re going on to someone else’s property and they aren’t expecting you and you’re doing something that causes alarm, you just don’t know what could happen,” said Williams.
