A Gloucester County girl died after she was struck by a car while riding her bike Wednesday evening, officials said.
The crash occurred in front of a Wawa on the 300 block of Route 322/South Black Horse Pike in Williamstown around 7 p.m., according to Monroe Township Police. The 14-year-old was riding a mountain bike and tried to cross Route 322 from the Wawa entrance when her bike collided with a car traveling west on 322 approaching the intersection with New Brooklyn Road, police said.
The teen failed to yield the right of way to traffic, according to police. The driver of the car, a 36-year-old Williamstown man, remained at the scene after the crash. The bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she died of her injuries, police said.Our journalism needs your support.
