A teen carrying a machete has been arrested at a Melbourne shopping centre only hours after another knife-wielding man was taken into police custody. Victoria Police have alleged a 15-year-old boy armed with a machete was yelling threats inside the Watergardens Shopping Centre on Melton Highway in Melbourne ’s west about 7.30pm on Friday. The boy, from Kealba, was detained by security shortly before police arrived.

Police confirmed no one was injured during the incident, but that police will be doing “proactive patrols today and tomorrow for community reassurance”. The boy was bailed to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date. This comes only hours after a Knife-wielding man sent the same shopping centre into lockdown after using a weapon to assault and threaten a 20-year-old woman inside a travel agency and later a 21-year-old male worker.
