"That’s all right, I was pretty happy with how the game ended up last night," Cruz said when asked about his reception at the game on"The View."
They asked about Cruz's support for former President Donald Trump after the 2016 GOP primary, when Trump insulted his wife and suggested his father killed John F. Kennedy. They then showed clips of Cruz slamming Trump during that campaign.Cruz said he never took Trump's insults seriously. His wife and father laughed them off as well, he said.
Cruz was later asked about Jan. 6, when he led an effort in the Senate to delay certifying President Joe Biden’s election win and objected to Arizona’s electoral votes less than an hour before demonstrators breached the Capitol. Cruz at the time was pushing for an “emergency audit,” which he has argued could have provided the final say Trump supporters needed to accept the results.
