In a year in which Republicans are focusing on border policy as their top campaign issue, polling shows the issue is top of mind for voters from both parties.
In a recent TV ad, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred , the Dallas Democrat taking on U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz , declared: “We don’t need talk on the border, we need action.” The video, featuring law enforcement from border counties, called him “tough” and praised his willingness to stand up to “extremists in both parties.” Allred already faced an uphill battle to beat Cruz in a red state where Democrat s haven’t won statewide office in three decades.
