Investigators say Ivan Miller allegedly stole one of the victim’s vehicles after the killings and drove through southern Utah into Colorado. Authorities were able to locate him in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, with the help of a real-time tracking device in the car and alerts from license plate reader cameras. Police say the cameras do not track vehicles continuously in real time. Instead, they capture images of passing vehicles and alert officers when a license plate matches entries in databases of stolen vehicles, wanted suspects, or missing persons.Triple homicide suspect found with gun, 'large' knife during Colorado arrestHolly Beilin, a spokesperson for Flock Safety, said one of the company’s license plate reader systems helped alert law enforcement. “One of the LPRs alerted officers that a vehicle associated with a violent crime with a triple homicide had been detected,” Beilin said. Beilin said the technology provides investigators with leads that can help track suspects as they travel across jurisdictions. “This is incredibly helpful technology, especially in those crimes where it may not be within the bounds of one specific jurisdiction,” Beilin said. Brice Current, police chief in Durango, Colorado, said the cameras do not actively follow vehicles but instead provide location data that helps investigators piece together a suspect’s movements. “This technology doesn’t track vehicles. It just tells you where a vehicle was, not where it is now and not where it’s going,” Current said. “It’s more of a breadcrumb where the investigation starts.” Investigators said they followed those digital “breadcrumbs” through multiple towns and states. Current said the last alert for the vehicle was recorded in Pagosa Springs.“This case prevented crime because he wasn’t done, I guarantee you,” Current said. Authorities say coordination between law enforcement agencies and the responsible use of technology helped move the investigation forward.Ivan Miller, 22, of Blakesburg, Iowa, was charged for the killings of three women in their 30s, 60s, and 80s.The three women killed in a triple homicide in Wayne County have been released after the suspect fled and was discovered in Colorado.Officials with the Utah DepFamily of two Wayne County murder victims released a statement after the women were found dead at a trailhead.Their statement was published on the Wayne and GarThe owner of an auto parts store in Loa, Utah, said he picked upaccused murderer Ivan Miller after Miller hit an elk with his truck.Ivan Miller, 22, of BlakesbThe mother of an 11-year-old girl who died in an avalanche near Brighton Ski Resort is speaking publicly for the first time, sharing memories of her daughter an
