Teary start to Umno Youth meet for Najib's sons as they receive award on his behalf

KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno Youth meeting got off to a teary start for the sons of former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

This came just before the main agenda of the Umno Youth meeting when it was announced that Najib was the recipient of the Anugerah Tokoh Pemuda 2023.

The estimated 1,160 youth delegates attending the meeting were heard chanting"Hidup Pemuda" and"Malu Apa" as the award was presented to a visibly moved Nizar by Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and his deputy Mohd Khairy Md Shah.Nizar is currently Pekan Umno division vice-chief while his brother is an Umno Youth exco member.

In July 2020, Najib, who was also former prime minister, was convicted and sentenced for charges involving criminal breach of trust , money laundering and abuse of position involving SRC funds totalling RM42mil.
