How TOTK DLC could fix a disappointing location.

Although The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom makes a number of improvements on Breath of the Wild, there are also a number of missed opportunities that could be corrected in a potential DLC. Despite taking place in the same Hyrule as its predecessor, Tears of the Kingdom's map is drastically changed, adding a number of new locations such as caves dotting the Surface, Sky Islands, and the Depths.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In reusing the same map as a previous game, and being one of the few mainline Zelda titles to do so, Tears of the Kingdom gives players the rare chance to see past the ending of a Zelda game.

Tears of the Kingdom Could Restore Castle Town in DLC To show a restored or partially repaired Castle Town in a DLC expansion, TOTK would have to advance the world beyond the game's ending - something that mainline Zelda games have never done, with most games either resetting the player back to their last save before beating the game, or allowing them to start a new game plus cycle.

With most of TOTK's settlements having undergone major changes from their BOTW iterations, showing the passage of time and ongoing efforts to rebuild Hyrule, the almost unchanged Castle Town can seem like something of an oversight - and one that TOTK could fix with DLC. In doing so, the prospective DLC would also break a long-running Zelda tradition, which would serve as a fitting send off to the open-world Hyrule of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
