A new Nigerian-backed team, Team PRONC, has signed up for the 2027 UIM E1 World Championship presented by PIF. The announcement was made during the E1 Monaco 2026 race at the Yacht Club de Monaco, where Team PRONC's founders signed the entry agreement alongside Alejandro Agag, Founder and Chairman of E1. The team is backed by a collective of Nigerian entrepreneurs and investors, notably Cecil Hammond and Richie Shittu, who are also behind the Rich Hospitality group, alongside Preye Berezi, Osahon Okunbo and Ndy Oruche.
Their vision extends beyond competition; they aim to infuse the championship with Nigeria's vibrant culture, renowned hospitality, and the broader creative energy of the African continent. This move comes as global interest in African music, fashion, sport and entertainment surges, and the founders seek to translate that cultural momentum into the sporting arena, creating a platform that celebrates and amplifies African influence on a worldwide stage.
Team PRONC enters a championship already popular with global icons like LeBron James, Tom Brady, Rafa Nadal and Will Smith, positioning itself at the intersection of motorsport, entertainment and lifestyle. The UIM E1 World Championship itself is distinguished by its commitment to marine conservation, innovation and equal opportunity, mandating mixed-gender pilot pairings for every team. Races take place in iconic coastal cities including Lake Como, Monaco, Lagos and Miami, blending high-speed electric racing with environmental stewardship.
