Alexia Rosales, 22, was fatally struck by two vehicles and pinned underneath a car, and five other children were injured and hospitalized in the accident. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday as children were being picked up from school following a holiday event. According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Department, a mother was picking up her children when she unknowingly accelerated, hitting another vehicle and sending both cars into the fence.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a press conference on Thursday night that he does not believe anything criminal caused the accident."Yesterday, we lost someone truly special. Alexia Rosales, a beloved teacher at Excelled Montessori, passed away in a tragic accident. Alexia wasn’t just a teacher—she was a bright light in all our lives. Her smile, laughter, and boundless love for the children and everyone around her made our school feel like a second home.
Her impact on our community is immeasurable, and her absence leaves a hole in our hearts. As we grieve, we want to come together to support her family in this incredibly difficult time."The school will be closed on Friday. Grief and trauma counselors are available on campus for families and faculty, according to a representative of the school.
