Sofia Tcherassi, drawing inspiration from her 2002 Milan Fashion Week debut, reintroduced a textured stropicciato fabric in her latest collection. Leather jackets, midi skirts, and fitted trousers showcased the fabric's edgy feel, balanced by more feminine silhouettes like those designed by her mother, the brand's director of rtw. The collection's autumnal color palette, featuring terra-cotta, olive, and navy, emphasized the heaviness of the stropicciato fabric, while romantic silhouettes and airy feather-like prints offered a touch of lightness.

The designer explained she looked to her debut Milan Fashion Week collection from 2002 as one of her main sources of inspiration. Tcherassi specifically looked to a stropicciato wrinkled fabric from the collection, reimagining it forwith standout styles like leather jackets, midi skirts and fitted trousers. The styles gave the collection an edgy feel that balanced out the more feminine pieces.

“The main novelty of this collection is the stropicciato fabric, which is all about texture,” Tcherassi said. “I’m so happy because it’s a wrinkle fabric. I introduced it in my collection 20 years ago in my debut at MilanWeek and it was a success. Now I am reintroducing this fabric and I’m so happy because we have incredible silhouettes like jackets and coats.”

Sofia Tcherassi, the brand’s director of rtw, joined her mother to discuss the more feminine styles from the collection, which gave fresh updates to the brand’s signature silhouettes. “It’s always building out the design codes,” she said. “We have those codes, but I think the main inspiration for the prints is definitely feathers and abstract shapes, which is always super inspirational for the brand and we hope to continue those special pieces.

The collection centered on an autumnal color palette of terra-cotta, olive and navy that continued the heavier feel brought in by the stropicciato fabric. The styles elegantly blended in this heaviness through romantic silhouettes and balanced them with airy feather-like prints. Overall, the collection offered a fresh take on Tcherassi’s signature design codes and showed an exciting, tougher side to her usual romantic pieces.
