Taylor Swift has created an original song for Disney-Pixar's Toy Story 5. The track, 'I Knew It, I Knew You,' was written for a new Jessie backstory. Swift, a lifelong fan of the franchise, became emotional during a 20/20 interview while discussing the film's impact and a specific lyric. The collaboration with Randy Newman and the secrecy surrounding the project were also highlighted.

Taylor Swift , the 14-time Grammy winner, has contributed an original song for the highly anticipated Disney - Pixar film Toy Story 5 . The pop star, 36, announced the single, titled "I Knew It, I Knew You," on June 1, revealing a lifelong dream of writing for the beloved characters she has adored since childhood.

Swift shared that she wrote the song immediately after seeing an early screening of the film. The track specifically accompanies a new backstory for the cowgirl figurine Jessie, who is voiced by Joan Cusack. Swift and her collaborator Jack Antonoff composed the song with immense affection for the franchise that shaped their youth. In a special 20/20 interview that aired Friday, June 12, Swift opened up about the emotional impact of the project.

She pinpointed a particular lyric that deeply moved her: "I watched you drive around the bend for what I thought would be the last time I saw my friend.

" Swift explained that the movie itself broke her heart, so she was especially pleased to provide Jessie with a happy moment through her music. The involvement was shrouded in secrecy from the start. According to Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear, and Tom Hanks, who voices Woody, the actors were kept in the dark.

Allen recalled that they were literally pulled into a room and told to shut the door, with Hanks joking he thought they were about to reveal that aliens are real. The collaboration also featured an interaction with the franchise's legendary songwriter Randy Newman. On Tuesday, June 9, Swift joined the 82-year-old composer for a duet of his iconic theme "You've Got a Friend in Me" at an event.

She then performed her new song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," for the first time during the screening. Swift attended the Toy Story 5 world premiere in Los Angeles that same day, arriving on the red carpet as a self-proclaimed "@toystory kid" and even bringing her own memorabilia.

In a social media post on June 5, she expressed her gratitude to the filmmakers for imagining her for this project so many years ago and to Newman for the "gorgeous sonic tapestry" of music that defines the series. She framed the work as a collective effort, stating, "By we, I mean myself and my pal @jackantonoff.

We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods.

" The news also briefly noted that Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was present to support her at a separate Hall of Fame induction event
