A new US law has made it virtually impossible to track private jet movements. Private jet owners can now anonymize their flight data.
A new bill approved by US President Joe Biden has made it almost impossible to track the movement of any private aircraft. The recent amendment in the Federal Aviation Administration re-authorization bill empowers private aircraft owners to anonymize their registration details.
So far, it was easy for random people on the internet to monitor the aircraft movement of celebrities and billionaires as the plane owners were bound to register aircraft ownership information with the FAA civil registry.The public details with the registry helped with open radar mapping to monitor where and when certain planes were traveling.
Using this method, many people on social media have tracked the planes of billionaires and celebrities, revealing how much CO2 is being emitted from their private jets.Jack Sweeney, a Florida college student who previously tracked Elon Musk’s jet, has been frequently tracking Taylor Swift’s plane. Recently, he revealed that the celebrity’s planes emitted 1,200 tons of CO2 in 2023, which is 83x higher than that of an average American.
He shared a clip on social media that shows how Swift’s planes crisscrossed the United States and the world nearly 170 times in 2023. Her planes reportedly covered the distance of flying around the Earth seven times in the last year.travel appeared to have tarnished her public image. Reports claimed that some of her travel was part of her Eras Tour, but she also enjoyed frequent trips for fun, including visiting Travis Kelce, her NFL star boyfriend, who played games in different US cities.
