Taylor Swift’s first and last surprise song choices on final ‘Eras Tour' leg prove she’s a mastermind
The 34-year-old singer took her final Eras Tour bow on Sunday, December 8, but not before singing a The Tortured Poets Department song with very special meaning. While performing her last concert in Vancouver on Sunday, Swift sat at her piano for a mashup of “Long Live/New Year’s Day/The Manuscript.”“Long Live” from Speak Now has always been a song for the fans and those who supported her along the way.
It seems fitting that Swift went with this tune for the final Eras Tour date. She then started singing the quiet ballad “New Year’s Day” which is the final song on her Reputation album. Fans have been waiting for an announcement about the Reputation rerecord and think this is a message that it’s coming soon.
Swift kicked off her Eras Tour in March 2023 with the first leg taking place in the United States. She then went to South America, Australia, Asia and Europe before returning for a final leg in the U.S. once again. The last batch of Eras Tour shows kicked off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on October 18.
“Wait I just realized that the first surprise song was ‘Tim McGraw’ and the last surprise song is ‘The Manuscript’ ,” one of Swift’s fans shared via X on Sunday. As Swift said her final goodbye to the Eras Tour crowd, the singer’s management team shared a sweet message to fans.
