Taylor Swift is angling for the Oscar.
Swift also acknowledged her privilege in making a film in the first place. “When we talk about female filmmakers,” she said at TIFF, “I also realize there are people that are working so hard to get financing, to get any type of budget together to make the productions and projects they want to make. So I honestly bow down, tip my hat to those female filmmakers.”
During the seven-minute BTS video, Swift can be seen guiding her two lead actors’ performances and advising the editing team on her heroine’s emotional arc. “We’re watching a person lose an element of innocence and naivete,” she explains. “We’re watching her figure out how to turn it into something beautiful, and she’s…in the older her, there’s a stillness and a stoicism and a seriousness, and a stillness but a sadness.” Swift adds, “She’s fine, but she’s not who we met.
