Taylor Sheridan mashed up The Punisher and Die Hard for his most underrated thriller. While Taylor Sheridan the actor made little impact outside his supporting role on Sons of Anarchy, Sheridan the screenwriter and showrunner has been way more impactful.
The Taylor Sheridan TV empire currently features shows like Lioness and the various Yellowstone spinoffs. Sheridan's first claim to fame was his American Frontier trilogy, which includes Sicario. All three movies displayed his talent for punchy dialogue, memorable characters and short, sharp bursts of action. Sadly, one downside of Sheridan's swerve toward TV is that he hasn't directed a movie since Those Who Wish Me Dead in 2021.
It's doubtful Sheridan will ever adapt a comic book character, but if he did, The Punisher would be right up his street. This is doubly fitting, as Sheridan has worked with Punisher star Jon Bernthal several times, including Those Who Wish Me Dead. In classic Sheridan style, this thriller saw the writer/director mash up several genres at once
