Video footage of Taylor Frankie Paul's 2023 arrest was released in March 2026, after her and Dakota Mortensen's alleged domestic dispute
News broke in March 2026 that Taylor and on-again, off-again boyfriend Dakota Mortensen were allegedly involved in a domestic dispute. A spokesperson for Utah’s Draper City Police Department confirmed to Us Weekly that there was an open “domestic assault investigation,” explaining that both Taylor and Dakota made allegations in the situation.
“There’s more to the context to everything and it’s unfortunate,” Taylor told Us Weekly, in part, while addressing the incident. “It’s been hard. And it sucks to be in this position.” Taylor welcomed son Ever with Dakota in March 2024. She’s also the mother of daughter Indy and son Ocean with ex-husband Tate Paul. A rep for Dakota issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly after news broke of the alleged dispute. “He knew there was a possibility it could come out, but he was not going to be the one to proactively do that because he has always wanted a decent relationship with Taylor,” the rep said. “It’s been really hard to achieve that, but he wants to coparent well.” The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives fans know that this is not the first time domestic violence claims have been made in the pair’s relationship. The very first episode, which was released in September 2024, showed Taylor being arrested after an alleged altercation. She was taken into police custody in February 2023 and charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse and criminal mischief. In March 2026, TMZ released video footage of the apparent altercation, which showed Taylor screaming at Dakota. She was also seen throwing multiple metal stools at him. “It’s sad to see the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, destructive campaign to harm Taylor without any regard for the consequences for their child,” a rep for Taylor said after the video emerged. “Releasing an old and selectively edited video on their son’s birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own behavior.”Why Was Taylor Frankie Paul Arrested in 2023? Taylor was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident that took place in February 2023. Video footage obtained by TMZ in March 2026 appeared to show part of the night in question. Dakota could be heard claiming that Taylor is “hammered” in the video while she screamed at him. One part of the clip showed Taylor attempting to kick Dakota. Eventually, the footage goes black. “Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and knows who is and sadly, many will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both in his actions on the show and from their own experiences,” Taylor’s rep said of the video in a March 2026 statement.During a September 2025 appearance on “Call Her Daddy,” Taylor claimed that the charges were “all dropped.” Us Weekly confirmed Taylor pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault in August 2023 as part of a plea deal to drop the other charges. If Taylor abided to the terms of her deal for three years, the charge would be downgraded to a misdemeanor. In March 2026, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill told Us that there have been no changes to Taylor’s probation just yet. “There is an active police investigation confirmed by the Draper Police Department,” Gill explained. “Our office has not been sent materials to conduct a formal screening. We are unable to comment on what impact this case may have on an individual’s probation status at this time.'
