Dallas City Council approved new taxi rates at Dallas airports on Wednesday.
The new city code changes will make the minimum fare to depart from Dallas Love Field $10, originally $8. It will be a $26 flat rate for a trip that starts at Love Field and ends at a location within the Dallas central business district or starts at a location within the business district and ends at the airport, a trip that was originally $21. Trips that start at the airport and end at the Dallas Market Center or vice versa will cost a flat rate of $20, originally $18.
The price for other trips within the DFW Airport are staying the same, such as the $7 for passengers to take a taxi between terminals, the minimum $14.50 for trips from the parking plaza within airport property and the $17 minimum to leave the airport property.taxi companies are operating at the airport, with guest assistants available at taxi stands between 8 a.m. to midnight each day. Taxi service is available on the lower level of all terminals.
There also are added quality standards for hailed vehicles, such as doors must open and close smoothly and all of the vehicle’s exterior lights must work properly. All taxis at the airports must also have the name of the vehicle operator, permit number, fare rate and the current fuel surcharge.
