A Tarrant County jury sentenced a man to death after he was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend and her 10-year-old daughter in 2018.
A Tarrant County jury sentenced a man to death Wednesday in the 2018 murders of his former girlfriend and her 10-year-old daughter.Lawyer and Womack had previously been in a relationship marked by domestic violence, where he strangled and choked her many times, according to a Wednesday news release from the Tarrant County district attorney’s office.
Lawyer’s DNA was found on the knot in the bag around Womack’s head, under her fingernails, on Ka’Myria’s clothing, a bleach bucket and Lysol can, according to the release. He also left a fingerprint in the girl’s blood on a mop.Prosecutors told the jury the mother and daughter might have been killed to prevent Womack from testifying against Lawyer in an upcoming domestic violence trial.
At the sentencing, assistant district attorney Lloyd Whelchel, who prosecuted the case with assistant district attorney Dale Smith, told the jury Lawyer took the Womacks’ lives brutally and without justification.Fort Worth Star-Telegram
