Tanzania's central bank maintained its key interest rate at 6% for the third consecutive policy meeting, aiming to curb inflation below its 5% target. Inflation is projected to remain within the range of 3.1% to 4% in the first quarter, according to Bank of Tanzania Governor Emmanuel Tutuba. The Tanzanian economy is predicted to expand by approximately 6% this year.
DAR ES SALAAM - Tanzania 's central bank left its key interest rate unchanged at 6% on Wednesday, holding it steady for a third consecutive policy meeting, with an aim of keeping inflation below its target.
Inflation is forecast to stay around the range of 3.1% and 4% in the first quarter, Bank of Tanzania Governor Emmanuel Tutuba said in a statement.
