Taylor Walls pulled up at second base before pumping his fist and saying 'fight' during Sunday's game.
Tampa Bay Rays ' Brandon Lowe celebrates his two-run home run off Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Keegan Akin with Taylor Walls during the fourth inning of a baseball game Friday, June 11, 2021, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Walls pulled up at second base before pumping his fist and saying what appeared to be “fight” during the game against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. Trump raised his fist and yelled “fight” after he survived an assassination attempt less than two weeks ago. The former president’s supporters have also used the chant at recent events, with Donald Trump Jr. leading the crowd to do it at the Republican National Convention last week.
Cardinals designated hitter Matt Carpenter claimed the celebration did not have any political meaning.Carpenter said the gestures referenced DJing, adding that the players call Burleson "Biscuit,” his rapper name, in the clubhouse.
