"Pemain bola sepak adalah atlet muda, risiko kematian jika mereka dijangkiti Covid-19 boleh menurun," kata Bolsonaro. Selain itu, Bolsonaro mahu saingan bola sepak disambung semula kerana mahu mengatasi masalah pengangguran dan menamatkan penantian bagi pemain yang terbabit dengan sukan berkenaan.
