Tam Cowan: For Peat's Sake - Kevin Van Veen will cop a £100m move to Real at this rate
At the time of writing, Motherwell FC superstar Kevin Van Veen still hasn’t moved to Real Madrid for £100million, but I got the shock of my life this week when I tuned into a documentary on BBC2.At the club’s Player of the Year event on Sunday the big man was giving nothing away on his next move, but I’ve been given a clue by regular reader Colin MacGregor.
I thought it was a travesty that big Kevin wasn’t awarded Player of the Year by my pals and colleagues at the Scottish Football Writers’ dinner on Sunday.Staying at Fir Park, those of you who enjoy a flutter will know they have a prize at the racetrack for the “best turned-out” horse. Well, if we had a similar award in the Scottish Premiership for the smartest- looking manager, I reckon Motherwell’s trophy cabinet would be bulging.
Meanwhile, apart from often being mistaken for the club’s late owner - Lottery winner Colin Weir – I don’t have any links to Partick Thistle. And that’s why I’ll be cheering for the Jags in the Premiership play-off final which kicks off tonight at Firhill.
