Right now the surface Bermuda high is displaced rather far to the east/northeast over the Atlantic... while a strong upper level ridge of high pressure is parked over the Central U.S. This pattern should hold for at least another week. This position is allowing westward moving tropical waves to turn rather sharply & early to the north.Check out the upper oceanic heat content [tropical cyclone heat potential/TCHP] across the SW Atlantic, Gulf & Caribbean. The warmth is very deep.
