It's been 20 years since we waved goodbye to the Channel 4 soap Brookside and we'll admit that it still holds a special place in our hearts because it was just great telly.
The Scouse soap had some controversial storylines in its time, including the body under the patio and Beth and Margaret's kiss- which was the first ever pre-watershed lesbian kiss. Other shocking and explosive storylines during its 21-year run included the horrific rape of Sheila Grant, the death of Sue Sullivan and baby Daniel and Nat and Georgia Simpson's incest plot.
Fans of the iconic show were thrilled earlier this year when it was announced that every episode of the soap would be returning to TV screens for the first time in 20 years. Now, all the original episodes of Brookside are available to watch on free streaming service, STV Player. The soap was created by Phil Redmond, who was also one of the people behind Grange Hill and Hollyoaks. It drew in audiences of nine million viewers at its peak. The likes of Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston, Claire Sweeney and Anna Friel all made a name for themselves on the Liverpool-set soap.
