Police said the commotion caused some traffic backups.

Tacoma police officers helped catch some runaways Wednesday morning in the city’s South End. Standard handcuffs couldn’t have been much help with these escapees, police were wrangling 10 horses that ran off from a property.

Some of the horses got onto McKinley Avenue in the 7600 block, according to a tweet from Tacoma Police Department. Police said the commotion caused some traffic backups from 8 to 9 a.m. while officers responded. A photo shared by police on Twitter showed a horse moving down the road with an officer pursuing on foot.

Police said officers assisted the owners in getting control of the horses, and the animals were safely brought back home.
