The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is waiving its adoption fees to help with overcrowding in their shelter. .“We have doubled and tripled kennel occupancy, and even set up temporary crates, yet we simply cannot keep up with the overwhelming number of animals entering our shelter,” said Leslie Dalzell, chief executive officer at the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County.”
The organization hopes that by eliminating fees associated with adopting an animal, people will be more inclined to bring a furry friend home. They are waiving adoption fees for adult dogs, adult cats, and all critters. In a statement, the organization said that every adoptable animal receives a wellness exam, receives initial vaccines, is microchipped with national registration, and is spayed or neutered.“When the community adopts from our shelter, it enables us to extend our services to animals in dire need who truly have no other options,” Dalzell said. “Additionally, community members can play an active role in reuniting lost pets with their families.
