T-mobile added fewer lucrative phone subscribers than expected during the first quarter, its last before closing on its purchase of rival Sprint

T-Mobile US Inc. said it expects the coronavirus pandemic to weigh on its financial performance through at least the end of the year, joining rival carriers in telling investors the crisis had clouded its outlook.

The carrier added 452,000 postpaid phone subscribers during the first quarter, its last before closing on its purchase of rival Sprint Corp. on April 1. Citigroup analysts expected postpaid phone net additions of 570,000 at T-Mobile during the quarter.
